    Bruno Mars (real name Peter Gene Hernandez) was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved to L.A. at 17 to start his career. His birthday is Oct. 8, 1985, and his height is 5’5”. The genre-hopping singer, songwriter and dancer got his start in entertainment at age 4, when he played an Elvis impersonator in his dad and uncle’s variety show. Early on in his career, he signed with Universal Motown but was quickly dropped. As part of the songwriting-producing team The Smeezingtons, Mars helped pen hits for Flo Rida, Cee-Lo Green, Snoop Dogg and more. He released his debut album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ in October 2010, and it debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Lead single “Just the Way You Are” hit No. 1 on the Hot 100. Since then, he’s had multiple hits, including sophomore album ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ (No. 1) and massive chart-topping singles such as “Uptown Funk!” with Mark Ronson, which held on to the No. 1 spot for 14 weeks. In July 2021, he and collaborator Anderson .Paak released “Leave the Door Open,” the first single from their joint project Silk Sonic, with the song reaching the summit; their album ‘An Evening With Silk Sonic’ reached No. 2. He also featured on Mark Ronson's 2014 single "Uptown Funk", which became Billboard's best-performing song of the 2010s.

    Mars' success continued throughout the 2020s. In 2021, he formed the musical superduoSilk Sonic with Anderson .Paak, and they released the 1970's R&B-inspired album An Evening with Silk Sonic, which contained the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Leave the Door Open". Mars' 2024 duets "Die with a Smile" (with Lady Gaga) and "Apt." (with Rosé) became his first singles to top the Billboard Global 200 chart. Outside of music, Mars launched the SelvaRey Rum Bar, at the Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii, and landed a voice role in the animated film Rio 2 (2014).
