Madison marlow biography

If you have read Female Fridays, you already know how I felt about Maddie & Tae up to this point. They are one of the main reasons I came back to country after losing all hope for the genre. I have recently become a reviewer of country music, but I am a fan first–those of us on independently-run sites are–and as a fan, I confess I had a lot of hopes for this album. I hoped it would be full of the country I heard on the EP. I could not bear to see another beacon of light for country become a singer of EDM (Zac Brown Band, talking about you), or some other trend. I am so glad to say this album reinforced my faith in Maddie & Tae and even gave me a shred of hope for country music.
The album opens with “Waitin’ on a Plane,” which is about a girl leaving town to chase her dreams. She’s sitting in seat 7A waiting for the plane to leave, thinking of the life she’s leaving and the future. Immediately I’m reminded of the Dixie Chicks’s “Ready to Run.” It’s not just the type of song, it’s their harmonies and style as well. People who said we’ll never hear anything like the Dixie Chicks again, think again, it’s here in Maddie & Tae. Next is their hit “Girl in a Country Song,” the anti-bro country anthem that put Maddie & Tae on the map. I wasn’t reviewing when this song came out, so I’ll say it now; this song is brilliant, and even more so in the context of an album. At the time of its release, many wondered why Maddie & Tae used hip-hop influences in their song and whether they would really be as “traditional” as they claimed. This song is the only one on the album with this type of influence, proving that along with the excellent, witty lyrics–which name-drop songs in clever, as opposed to obnoxious, ways–the instrumentation is there on purpose. They adopted the style to make fun of the trend w Maddie and Tae are a super talented duo that has been taking the country world by storm the past few years. On Wednesday (Nov. 13), they’re appearing on Good Morning America ahead of performing at the 2019 Country Music Association Awards taking place that night in Nashville, Tenn. The two are nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year for the 53rd annual CMAs, the capstone to a huge year in which they toured with country music superstar Carrie Underwood. Here’s what you need to know about this vivacious country duo. Madison “Maddie” Marlow and Taylor “Tae” Dye are originally from Texas and Oklahoma, respectively — they are not sisters, however, despite the fact that they do share some resemblance. They actually met in high school when they were just 15 years old because they were using the same vocal coach. Once they became friends, they started traveling to Nashville on the weekends to perform together. Once they graduated from high school, they made the Nashville move permanent, performing under the name “Sweet Aliana.” Then in 2014, they became the first signees for the newly-revived Dot Records label. Shortly thereafter they started off on their first radio tour, which they chronicled in a web series called “On the Road,” the first episode of which happened to coincide with Maddie’s 19th birthday. “It’s been a crazy day … We’re doing great and this has been so much fun,” says Maddie, as they sign off at nearly 1 a.m. after their first couple days on tour. A performer playing the guitar in the country music world isn’t that unusual, but what is fairly unusual is that while Maddie plays right-handed guitar, Tae plays left-handed, which means she picks the guitar with her left hand. That’s not something you see very often in any genre of American female country music duo Maddie & Tae are an American female country music duo composed of Maddie Font (née Marlow) and Tae Kerr (née Dye), both of whom are singers, songwriters, and guitarists. The duo was signed to the revived Dot Records in 2014. Their debut album, Start Here, was released on August 28, 2015, and includes the singles "Girl in a Country Song", "Fly", "Shut Up and Fish", and "Sierra". Following the closure of Dot, they signed to Mercury Nashville in 2018. They released their second studio album The Way It Feels for this label in April 2020, and the first part of their third studio album, Through The Madness in 2022. In 2010, Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye were both going to the same vocal coach and met at a showcase in Dallas. Within the year, the duo were going back and forth to Nashville every weekend while still going to school. They first performed under the name Sweet Aliana. After finishing high school, the duo moved to Nashville, to begin their musical career as Maddie & Tae. In 2014, Big Machine Records revived the Dot Records name for a new imprint. Maddie & Tae were confirmed as the first signees of the label in June 2014. They wrote their debut single, "Girl in a Country Song", with Aaron Scherz, who co-produced it with Dann Huff. The song is a criticism of the then-contemporary bro-country trend. "Girl in a Country Song" debuted at number 58 on the Country Airplay chart dated for the week ending July 19, 2014. After 23 weeks, it reached number 1 for the chart dated December 20, 2014, becoming the first debut single by a female duo to reach number one since The Wreckers did it in 2006 with "Leave the Pieces", and only the second in history.
