Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds Revisits 'Night Visions' 10 Years Later: 'Changed Everything for Me'

Fresh off the release of the new double album Mercury - Acts 1 & 2, Imagine Dragons is revisiting the record that launched its career.

On Friday, the pop-rock band released Night Visions (Expanded Edition), a repackaged version of the 2012 debut album that brought Imagine Dragons worldwide fame via the multi-platinum hit singles "It's Time," "Radioactive," "Demons" and "On Top of the World."

Available in multiple digital and physical formats, Night Visions (Expanded Edition) features all 11 tracks from the original album and nine songs previously released on various deluxe editions, plus demos of "Love of Mine" and "Bubble," two songs recorded during the Night Visions sessions but never shared with listeners — until now.

"There are a lot of songs that get left off that are a point of contention amongst the band. We have had many late-night arguments about what makes the record," frontman and vocalist Dan Reynolds tells PEOPLE.

After a decade of holding back the scrapped tracks, which some members of the band — which also features guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman — wanted to include on the initial Night Visions track listing, "Love of Mine" and "Bubble" proved themselves as standouts worthy of release.

"Some songs that you thought were important, you listen to now and just smile, and you're grateful that they never saw the light of day, but these are two songs that we felt represent that era well," continues Reynolds, 35. "'Bubble' is a really jovial, happy, ironic song that always has made us smile, so we wanted to finish it."

"Love of Mine," on the other hand, is one that Reynolds personally wanted to release on Nigh

  • Review: Imagine Dragons @ Manchester Arena

As I was walking out of the Arena, a girl who appeared from behind me asked if she could write something on my notepad.

Although slightly surprised, I obliged and handed it over.

She wrote ‘Awesome!!!’ with a love heart drawn below and said that was all I needed for my gig review.

While I’ve decided to write a bit more, you get the gist of the reception the gig got.

As soon as Sunset Sons, the warmup for Imagine Dragons came on stage, the girl in front of me began dancing wildly, clad in a Sunset Sons t-shirt.

She only broke from her exuberance to take pictures every few seconds; she must have had a hundred pictures just of the warmup act.

The band themselves proved to be a strong warm-up act, proudly managing to make large sections of the crowd put their lights on during Bright Lights.

Lead singer Rory admitted this was a first for the band.

The band finished by posing for photos in front of the crowd before the standard half an hour break, in which the girl in front of me managed to change into an Imagine Dragons t-shirt.

She continued taking numerous pictures throughout the gig probably exhausting her phone’s memory.

It was a typically fast start by Imagine Dragons beginning with Shots which once hit number one on the USA iTunes chart.

Showing there was no easing into the gig here and the song was accompanied by searing blue flames.

The seamless switches between the high tempo songs in which lead singer Dan Reynolds would actively cover most of the stage, and the emotional numbers, was what made this gig so strong.

It was their Forever Young cover that really inspired the crowd.

This is a particularly emotional song given new meaning due to Reynolds’ revelation in Leeds on Wednesday that he suffers from ankylosing spondylitis.

This is a rare autoimmune-type disease which will result in less elasticity of the spine, making it extremely hard to stand up straight. Essentially turni

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds raises $1m for LGBTQ charities with LoveLoud festival

Dan Reynolds of pop rock band Imagine Dragons, has raised $1m for organisations that provide support to the LGBTQ community through his LoveLoud music festival.

Mr Reynolds founded the LoveLoud foundation in 2017 in an effort to support the LGBTQ community and its youth by encouraging acceptance in the home and community. Last year, a sold-out LoveLoud festival in Orem, Utah, drew an estimated 17,000 people with proceeds directed to LGBTQ charities.

This year, Mr Reynolds aimed to go higher and raise $1m – a goal he previously noted was “overly ambitious”.

“I think that we went into this shooting for the stars, and that's been kind of what LoveLoud has been about from the very beginning – doing something that is maybe a little overly ambitious, but somehow we pull it off,” he toldBillboard prior to the festival.

Indeed the LoveLoud festival met its goal; its day-long festival on 28, July raised $1m from ticket sales and donations. The money raised will benefit organisations, including main benefactors The Trevor Project, Encircle and Tegan and Sara Foundation.

For this year’s festival, Mr Reynolds teamed up with Tegan Quin of indie pop band Tegan and Sara, to help execute its goal to raise $1m. Furthermore, AT&T, the festival’s primary sponsor, pledged to donate $1 for every tweet that featured hashtag #loveloud for up to $50,000 (40,000 £). The festival featured speakers and performers, like Zedd, Mike Shinoda and Vagabon. More than 30,000 people attended the sold-out festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, The Salt Lake Tribunereported.

“The people and the community want to love our LGBTQ youth,” Mr Reynolds told The Tribune. “Period. And that’s the goal of LoveLoud.”

A HBO documentary on Mr Reynolds, Believer, released earlier this year, followed the pop rock band frontman for one year as he sought out to examine how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
