The History
Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is known these days as one of the best players in the world, but it was a long journey to the top of the game for the Bagdad, Florida native. Watson turned pro in and while his prodigious power was on display from the start, it took him seven years to get his first win, defeating Scott Verplank and Corey Pavin in a playoff at the Travelers Championship. Later that year, he found himself in a playoff against Martin Kaymer at the PGA Championship, but after being even through the first two holes, Watson ended up short in the hazard on the par-4 18th, allowing Kaymer to lay up and secure his first major win.
Watson won twice on the PGA Tour in before making headlines in France for his behaviour at the French Open. In , he made a charge on Sunday at the Masters, getting into a playoff against Louis Oosthuizen. They were even after the first hole before both players drove their balls right on the 18th, with seemingly no chance at anything other than a pitch out, but Watson decided to go at the green and hit one of the most famous shots in Masters history:

After the win though, Watson struggled and didnt get another win until almost two years later at the Northern Trust, but he followed that up with another Masters title, winning a Sunday battle with Jordan Spieth that quickly turned in his favour on the back nine. He also won the last big tournament of the year in China, taking the WGC-HSBC Champions for his most successful year as a professional.
