For a cover story photoshoot with GQ, London stated, "I did not slide into his DMs. My homeboy did...." She explained that in 2013, whilst filming for the TV series The Game, she bought Hussle's new mixtape Crenshaw for her co-stars, which was $100 apiece. Afterwards, she followed Nipsey on Instagram, which led to him following back and DM-ing her. Hussle revealed the first time they met in person was at his store on Slauson and Crenshaw in Los Angeles.

When London was chosen by John Singleton to be in the crime-drama TV series Snowfall, she got the part and participated in the pilot. When she became pregnant, she turned down the role, revealing, "It was the toughest decision of my career my far." Hussle added, "I didn't put any pressure on her for whatever decision she wanted to make. I learned then that what she believes in, she really believes in."

In November 2017, they briefly split up for a couple of months. Hussle took to Twitter to announce, "[Lauren London] and I had a dope relationship and made a beautiful child. In 2022, London and PUMA collaborated on the L.A Love Story project. The footwear and apparel collection is inspired by her hometown, Los Angeles. Items also feature her late boyfriend Nipsey Hussle, who was fatally shot on March 31, 2019, in Los Angeles.
