Vasu Varma is an Indian film director who works in Telugu cinema.
Career
Vasu started his career as an apprentice in direction for the movie Sakutumba Saparivaara Sametam directed by S.V.Krishna Reddy. Later, he started assisting V. V. Vinayak from his first film Aadhi as an Associate Director and later became a co-director. Right from the first movie of Dil Raju ProductionsDil, Varma has given his support and acted as a backbone to Dil Raju's direction department and has continued to do so. In 2009, Dil Raju gave the first direction opportunity to Varma, to launch a Naga Chaitanya (son of Nagarjuna) in Josh. He also launched another Karthika Nair (daughter of yesteryears star actress Radha) in the same movie. With Josh, he became one of the rare directors who launched two star kids in one movie.
After Josh, Varma got another chance from Raju for his second movie, Krishnashtami.

Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Narayanan Nair (15 July 1933 – 25 December 2024) was an Indian author, screenplay writer and film director. He was a prolific and versatile writer in modern Malayalam literature, and was one of the masters of post-Independence Indian literature. Randamoozham, which retells the story of the Mahabharata from the point of view of Bhimasena, is widely credited as his masterpiece.
At the age of 20, as a chemistry undergraduate, he won the prize for the best short story in Malayalam for Valarthumrigangal at World Short Story Competition jointly conducted by New York Herald Tribune, Hindustan Times, and Mathrubhumi. His first major novel, Naalukettu (The Legacy), written at the age of 23, won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958. His other novels include Manju (Mist), Kaalam (Time), Asuravithu (The Demon Seed), and Randamoozham (The Second Turn). The emotional experiences of his early days went into his novels, and most of his works are oriented towards the basic Malayalam family structure and culture. His three novels set in traditional tharavads in Kerala are Naalukettu, Asuravithu, and Kaalam.

The police have been focusing on the film industry's alleged drug connections, including suspicions around actor Navdeep. Director Mantena Vasu Varma and writer Manneri Prithvikrishna were arrested in the latest drug case, where 70 grams of cocaine, foreign liquor, and ganja were seized. Some websites erroneously reported that Vasu Varma from 'Josh' was the one arrested, leading to the news going viral on social media. Vasu Varma urged these platforms to correct the mistake and stated that he has no involvement in the case, emphasizing his busy work schedule and the presence of another person with a similar name in the industry.
