Rohit Shekhar Tiwari murder: 'I removed the cause of my unhappiness'

Rohit Shekhar son of late ND Tiwari, brought dead to Max Hospital, Saket
NEW DELHI: During questioning, Apoorva Shukla, arrested for killing her husband Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, has allegedly confessed that she hatched the murderplan because she suspected her husband of having a son out of wedlock and feared that his property would eventually go to that child. In her two days in remand, police sources claimed, Shukla made a full disclosure of her tryst with Tiwari.
The sources told TOI that Shukla described her husband’s ‘affair’ as a major setback that had been “eating her up inside”. The woman in question had a son eight years after marriage, and this only aggravated Shukla’s worsening relations with Tiwari.

“The woman wanted Rohit to give a share of his property to her son and would often say, ‘Aapke ghar ka hi to bachcha hai’. Rohit’s affection for that child only confirmed my doubts,” the police disclosure report quotes Shukla as alleging.
Shukla, who comes from a family of lawyers in Indore, visited Delhi between 2012 and 2014, and later took a house on rent in Lajpat Nagar IV. She started practising in the Supreme Court as well as in the Indore district court.
“I had political ambitions,” she told her interrogators. This seemed to be at the back of her mind when she chose Rohit Shekhar Tiwari from among the profiles she received from a marriage site she had registered on. She had discovered that he was the son of N D Tiwari, Congress leader and former chief minister, Union minister and governor, and had won a paternity suit after protracted litigation.
After a few months of dating, she pressed for marriage. The wedding was solemnised on May 11, 2018, but she told police she soon “realised the marriage wouldn’t work” and left for her parental home on May 29. She returned in July, only to send a notice of divorce to Tiwari through her lawyer.
