Le Uyen Phuong (1941-1999) was a famous Vietnamese musician, songwriter and singer. He and his former wife, Le Uyen, were one of South Vietnam's most successful singing duos of Vietnamese pop music known as Le Uyen & Phuong.

He was born as Le Minh Lap on February 2, 1941 in Da Lat. At the age of 19, his first written song, Buon Den Bao Gio, was published. In 1968, he met and married Lam Anh Phuc, a singer who would later become known as Le Uyen. Together they ran and operated a cabaret club of their own in Da Lat called Luc Huyen Cam. The year of 1970 would be a turning point in their careers with the release of the album, Tinh Ca Le Uyen Phuong. For the duration of the early 1970s prior to the Fall of Saigon, Le Uyen Phuong would be one of the most prolific songwriters of South Vietnam. His most popular written and composed songs include Vung Lay Cua Chung Ta, Loi Goi Chan May, Tren Da Tinh Yeu, Cho Lan Cuoi, Hay Ngoi Xuong Day, Tinh Khuc Cho Em, Da Khuc Cho Tinh Nhan, Bai Ca Hanh Ngo and Dem Cho Phien Mua Dong. Two songbooks of Le Uyen Phuong were published while in South Vietnam, Khi Loai Thu Xa Nhau (1970) and Yeu Nhau Khi Con Tho (1971).

After resettling in Southern California in 1979, Le Uyen & Phuong continued with their careers in music performing for overseas Vietnamese audiences across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. Le Uyen Phuong published his third songbook, Bien, Ke Phan Xet Cuoi Cung, in 1980. A couple years later, he and his wife opened up LUP Café in Santa Ana, California which remained in operation until their divorce in 1985. For the next several years, Le Uyen Phuong went into obscurity while his former wife continued with her solo career.

In 1990, Le Uyen Phuong resurfaced with the publication of his book, Khong Co May Tren Thanh Pho Los Angeles. The 1990s also brought about a resurgence to the popularity of his music when he and his former wife reunited as Le Uyen & Phuong on several music videos produce

    Le Uyen (1952- ) is a Vietnamese singer who had first gained prominence as one half of the legendary singing duo, Le Uyen & Phuong, in Saigon during the late 1960s.

    Born as Lam Phuc Anh on July 17, 1952 in Hanoi, she is the eldest out of two daughters in a Chinese-Vietnamese family of Hoa descent. In 1954, Le Uyen and her family resettled in the Cho Lon district of Saigon, South Vietnam. While in Da Lat at the age of 16, she met and married Le Minh Lap, a songwriter, singer and musician 11 years her senior who would later become known as Le Uyen Phuong.

    As a duo, Le Uyen & Phuong first began to have a following in 1969 among the young adult demographics of South Vietnam, particularly university and college students. As their popularity grew, the duo began performing for major music festivals and concert events all over South Vietnam until the Fall of Saigon in 1975. Le Uyen & Phuong recorded for various major record labels of South Vietnam including Shotguns, Thanh Thuy, Nhat Truong, Jo Marcel, Nhac Tre and Pham Manh Cuong. The duo developed a distinct trademark with their audio recordings in which consisted of their vocals accompanied solely by Le Uyen Phuong on acoustic guitar as music arrangements. Among their most popular recorded songs together as a duo were songs written and composed by Le Uyen Phuong, himself, such as Da Khuc Cho Tinh Nhan, Buon Den Bao Gio, Tren Da Tinh Yeu, Bai Ca Hanh Ngo and Dem Cho Phien Mua Dong. Aside from songs written by her husband, Le Uyen also found success with recordings of songs by other composers such as Co Hong written by Pham Duy.

    In 1979, the couple and their two daughters, Le Uyen Uyen and Le Uyen Mi, left their homeland for the United States resettling in Southern California. Immediately, they continued with their music careers performing for overseas Vietnamese audiences throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.     Vũ Lệ Quyên (born April 2, 1981), known by her stage name Lệ Quyên, is a Vietnamese singer. In 2004, she began her professional singing career with her debut album named Giấc mơ có thật (True Dream). She is known for her series of musical activities, composed of ballad music, old music, pre-war music since the very beginning of her career in the 2000s.

    She was born in Hanoi in a family of singing tradition. As her parents were both singers, she was exposed to her interest in singing at an early age. She enrolled at Ha Noi's University of Culture, studying musical theory. In 2004, she began her profession career by releasing her first album Giấc mơ có thật, which gained much success after 6 years singing in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. She is one of the best-selling singers of all times in Vietnam.

    In the late 2000s, she released a series of musical projects that were commercially and critically successful, including albums Lời Yêu Còn Mãi (2006), Lệ Quyên Acoustic (2009), Nếu Như Ngày Đó (2009). Since 2010, she has been releasing special editions of albums following a songwriter theme for each album: Vùng Tóc Nhớ (10 nameless songs of Vũ Thành An, 2014), Còn Trong Kỉ Niệm (Thái Thịnh, 2016), Lệ Quyên & Lam Phương (2016), Lệ Quyên & Trịnh Công Sơn (2018). In 2013, she held the liveshow Q Show, with an 11 billion Vietnam dong budget, the biggest liveshow at that time.

    She is well known for her serious, professional devotion in music, and for performing many different genres. She has been called the Queen of Music Tea Room or Queen of Old Songs. She was also a judge of Bolero Idol (2017), Vietnam Idol (2012), X-Factor (2014) and The Voice Vietnam (2015), and also starred in TV drama Bản Lĩnh Người Đẹp (2004), directed by Nguyen Anh Tuan.

    Julie Quang tên thật là Rany Angot, sinh ngày 18 tháng 1 năm 1951 trong một gia đình có sáu chị em mà cô là chị cả. Cha cô là lính Ấn Độ trong Quân đội viễn chinh Pháp. Mẹ cô là bà Nguyễn Thị Hoài, người đã gây nguồn cảm hứng cho Phạm Duy viết nên bản nhạc Mái tóc chị Hoài.

    Lúc 11 tháng tuổi, cả gia đình Julie Quang theo cha cô chuyển qua Pondicherry, Ấn Độ. Năm năm sau, mẹ Julie Quang cùng chị em cô quay về sống với ông bà ngoại ở Cần Thơ. Lúc này, dù gia đình rất nghèo, nhưng mẹ cô vẫn tằn tiện cho cô theo học trường tư thục Công Giáo Regina Pacis ở Sài Gòn và mua cho cô rất nhiều tờ nhạc để cô sưu tầm cũng như tập dợt. Trong thời gian học ở trường, cô tham gia văn nghệ bằng giọng ca bản năng của một cô bé 7, 8 tuổi, sau đó tham gia những ban văn nghệ không tên tuổi.

    Năm 16 tuổi, Julie Quang chính thức bước vào sự nghiệp âm nhạc với sự khuyến khích của mẹ. Cô tham gia ban nhạc The Sunshines với nghệ danh Julie tại Đại hội Nhạc trẻ vào cuối năm 1967 ở rạp Đại Nam. Sau đó, cô hợp tác với ban Free Ones, chuyên hát nhạc Pháp, nhạc Anh cho các căn cứ quân đội Hoa Kỳ ở Long Bình, Biên Hòa, Nha Trang, Ban Mê Thuột, Tân Sơn Nhất... Julie hát được nhiều loại nhạc, gồm nhạc nước ngoài và nhạc kích động. Giọng hát của Julie Quang tự bản chất là trong trẻo. Nhưng cô tập hát bằng giọng ngực nên giọng mới khàn khàn.
