Singapore Airlines confirms A350 debut as it celebrates first delivery
By Richard MaslenThe Asian carrier has configured the A350-900 in a 253-seat arrangement across three classes – 42 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy and 187 in Economy. It currently has orders for 67 A350-900s having placed an additional order for four aircraft last year. Seven of these will now be delivered with an Ultra-Long Range capability for flights of up to 19 hours.

Garuda confirms Indonesia’s new direct link from London Heathrow
By Richard MaslenThe airline’s current three times weekly Jakarta – London Gatwick operation, which acts as a continuation of flights from the Indonesian capital to Amsterdam, will grow to a five times weekly schedule when the move to Heathrow takes place from March 31, 2016 as it draws on SkyTeam alliance transfer flows via the hub airport to bring additional passenger flows onto the city pair.

Jakarta has two airports, Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta is used for domestic flights. Indonesia’s three busiest airports are Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Bali Ngurah Rai Airport (Denpasar) and Surabaya Juanda Airport. The airport is situated in the west of Java, west of Jakarta. The airport is located in the north of Tangerang, one of the big cities that are located around Jakarta. The capital of Indonesia is surrounded by the cities of Bekasi, Depok, Bogor (West Java), Tangerang and Tangerang Selatan (Bantam). The airport has three terminals, located between the runways. T3 is the newest and most modern terminal of Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are connected by a monorail called Skytrain, which travellers can use for free. The Skytrain provides a connection to the airport’s train station (Airport Railway). There are also free shuttle buses running between the terminals, 24 hours a day every 30 minutes. International terminal in Banten, Indonesia Soekarno–Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 is a terminal of Soekarno–Hatta International Airport serving Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. It is located on northeast side of the airport. Terminal 3 has a different style to other terminals of the airport. Terminal 1 and 2 were built with incorporation of the local Javanese architecture into the design, but Terminal 3 is built in contemporary modern design with a degree of environmental friendly and traditional sense. The terminal was first named as Terminal 3 Ultimate before it was renamed simply as Terminal 3. Garuda Indonesia Group airlines, including Garuda Indonesia and Citilink, operate all of its flights from this terminal. Most foreign airlines and several local airlines serving the airport also fly from this terminal. In 2017, the terminal was named as the best airport terminal in Indonesia at the ninth Bandara Awards initiated by Majalah Bandara. The former Terminal 3 was officially opened for commercial flights when Mandala Airlines and Indonesia AirAsia started operations in T3 for their domestic flights on 20 April 2009 followed by international flights on 15 November 2011. The old Terminal 3 had a capacity of 4 million passengers per annum, 30 check-in counters, 6 baggage carousels and 3 gates with two jet bridges. In 2012, Angkasa Pura II, the airport operator, undertook a master plan to upgrade Soekarno-Hatta International airport into a world class airport and ultimately build an Aerotropolis. The expansion of Terminal 3 is part of the masterplan. Terminal 3 was initially projected to serve 60 airplanes. The new Terminal 3 officially opened for commercial aviation on 9 August 2016 at midnight stroke of WIB. At first, the new T3 had no link with the old T3 building. The old T3 is now Soekarno–Hatta International Airport
